About the System
What a Kidde WHDR Suppression System Is
Boss Fire Protection is a Texas State Licensed fire protection company (ECR-2481913) with over 40 years of combined experience servicing commercial kitchens across Dallas-Fort Worth. Kidde is one of the major wet chemical systems we install and maintain.
The Kidde WHDR is a pre-engineered wet chemical system built for commercial cooking hazards. It protects the hood, the plenum, the duct, and the appliances under one automatic system, and it meets the UL 300 standard that every commercial kitchen in Texas is held to.
When a fire breaks out, fusible links over the cookline release and the system discharges a wet chemical agent that smothers the flames and cools the grease so it does not reignite, while shutting off the gas or electric to the appliances. The WHDR is a cartridge-operated design, so a charged cartridge fires the system rather than a constantly pressurized cylinder.
Why Choose Kidde
Where the Kidde WHDR Stands Out
Kidde is a solid, efficient choice for a lot of commercial kitchens. Here is where the WHDR earns its place.
Fewer nozzles and flow points
The WHDR design covers the cookline with fewer discharge nozzles and flow points than some systems, which means fewer parts over the appliances and a cleaner layout overhead.
Faster, lower-cost install
With fewer flow points to pipe and aim, a Kidde system is generally faster to install and lower in cost than a more nozzle-heavy system, without giving up coverage.
Flexible by design
The WHDR lets us spec the detection, the control, and the cylinder sizes to your kitchen, so the system is matched to your cookline instead of forcing your kitchen to fit the system.
Efficient coverage
The result is efficient, flexible protection for the hood, duct, and appliances that holds up to the same UL 300 standard as every other system we install.

Common Questions
Kidde Fire Suppression FAQs
Does Boss Fire service Kidde fire suppression systems?
Yes. Boss Fire installs, inspects, services, and repairs Kidde WHDR commercial kitchen suppression systems across Dallas-Fort Worth. We run the semi-annual NFPA 96 inspection, keep the system charged, and handle red-tag repairs.
Do you stock Kidde parts?
We carry Kidde parts on the truck, including cartridges, links, and common service items, so most inspections and repairs are finished in one visit instead of leaving your kitchen waiting on an order.
Can you install a new Kidde WHDR system?
Yes. We design and install new Kidde WHDR systems for new builds and retrofits, sized to your cookline, piped, linked, and certified to UL 300. Because the WHDR uses fewer nozzles and flow points, the install is usually faster and lower in cost than a more nozzle-heavy system.
Can you service a Kidde system another company installed?
Absolutely. Most of the Kidde systems we maintain were put in by someone else. We pick up the inspection, service, and repair on your existing WHDR system and put it on a tracked schedule so nothing lapses.
How does Kidde compare to other suppression systems?
Kidde is an efficient, flexible wet chemical system with fewer flow points and a faster, lower-cost install. Every major brand meets the same UL 300 standard, so the right choice comes down to your kitchen, your budget, and how the system is supported.
