About the System
What a ProTex Fire Suppression System Is
Boss Fire Protection is a Texas State Licensed fire protection company (ECR-2481913) with over 40 years of combined experience. ProTex is the system we install most across Dallas-Fort Worth, on food trucks and in stable commercial kitchens alike.
ProTex is a UL 300 listed wet chemical fire suppression system built for commercial cooking lines. Its model line, the Series II and ProTex II, protects the appliances, the cooking surface, the plenum, and the duct the way NFPA 96 requires.
When a grease fire starts, ProTex discharges a potassium-carbonate wet chemical agent over the hot surfaces. The agent smothers the flame, cools the oil, and forms a soapy layer that blocks the fuel so the fire cannot reignite. Its compact tank and control head fit the tight galleys on food trucks and trailers where a bigger system would not, which is one of the reasons it is our go-to install.
Boss Fire Protection is Texas State Licensed (ECR-2481913) by the Texas Department of Insurance, State Fire Marshal’s Office. We install, inspect, service, and repair ProTex on the same standards we hold every brand to.
Why Choose ProTex
Where ProTex Is the Right Call
No single system is best for every kitchen. Here is where ProTex earns its spot, and why it is the brand we reach for first.
Fits a tight food-truck galley
The compact tank and control head fit the cramped cook lines on food trucks and trailers, where a larger system simply will not go. It is built for the spaces that are hardest to protect.
Cost-conscious for a stable kitchen
For a kitchen with a settled layout, ProTex delivers full UL 300 coverage without paying for flexibility you will not use, which keeps the install and the long-term service predictable.
Boss Fire’s primary install brand
ProTex is the system we install most, so we know its layout, parts, and quirks cold and stock its components on the truck. That means faster installs and faster repairs when you need them.
Stops a grease fire from reigniting
The potassium-carbonate wet chemical agent smothers the flame and cools the oil, then forms a barrier over the surface that blocks the fuel so the fire cannot flash back.

Common Questions
ProTex Fire Suppression FAQs
Does Boss Fire service ProTex fire suppression systems?
Yes. ProTex is our primary install brand, so we inspect, service, and repair ProTex systems across Dallas-Fort Worth. We run the semi-annual NFPA 96 inspection, keep the system charged and code-ready, and handle any red-tag repair.
Do you stock ProTex parts on the truck?
Yes. Because ProTex is the system we install most, we carry ProTex parts on the truck. That means a lot of installs and repairs get done in a single visit instead of waiting on an order.
Can you install a new ProTex system for a food truck?
Yes, and food trucks are exactly where ProTex shines. Its compact tank and control head fit a tight galley where a larger system will not, and we size, pipe, and certify the ProTex Series II or ProTex II for your cook line.
Can you service a ProTex system another company installed?
Yes. It does not matter who installed it. We pick up the inspection, service, and repair of any existing ProTex system, document its condition, and put it on a tracked compliance schedule.
How does ProTex compare to other suppression systems?
ProTex is a strong, cost-conscious choice for food trucks and stable kitchens, which is why it is our go-to install. Other systems lead on different strengths, like electronic monitoring or zone flexibility. We break down how every brand we service compares in our commercial kitchen suppression systems guide.
